Reading this book really helped me reframe my thinking about retirement and helped alleviate the anxiety of such a big change. Now I'm genuinely looking forward to it! I really liked that the book encourages a modern perspective (I'm definitely not the knitting, book club or gardening type). I thought I was mentally prepared for this next stage, but the book has challenged me to re-examine how I'll spend my time in ways that will make me feel happy and fulfilled.

So many people in my family could have benefitted from better planning for their retirement.
This book provides a good start to people who have no idea how to prepare for retirement. It's a good book to hand to someone long before they retire, to give them an idea of what they should prepare for to actually be able to enjoy their retirement. This book leans towards self-sufficiency, and not simply relying on family for financial, emotional, or physical support. I would add more content on physical strength building as that's the new science on anti-aging and longevity. But otherwise as a whole, good book to give to people in your life.

I am about a year away from retirement and am a planner. My concern has always been that I would be bored and/or die within a few years.
I got some great ideas and some solid steps in Sarah's book. I am now also picking the brains of the FEW retirees that seem to be doing it the way I want to. THIS wasn't directly suggested in the book, but IS a result of it.

I really liked this guide and would recommend for any person who is either already retired or planning a retirement. Many books focus mainly on financial planning, but this one has got a holistic approach: from changes ahead to living a meaningful life (all components are well covered).

If you're someone who constantly feels like time is slipping through your fingers and you're always racing against the clock, "Time Management for the Time-Anxious" is definitely worth checking out. This book really gets to the heart of why we feel so stressed about time and offers practical ways to deal with it.
What I loved most about this book is that it doesn't just tell you to manage your time better; it actually helps you understand the anxiety that comes with time pressure. It dives into why we feel so stressed about time and how it affects us mentally and physically. Then, it walks you through how to create your own "Time Anxiety Profile" so you can pinpoint the habits, like procrastination or perfectionism, that might be holding you back.
The book also offers helpful strategies to set boundaries and focus on what really matters, which I found super useful. I especially appreciated how it emphasizes quality over quantity, encouraging readers to measure success by the impact of their actions rather than just checking off tasks.

This time management book is especially for those dealing with time anxiety, like if you ever feel stressed about not having enough time. It breaks down why we get so anxious about time and gives a bunch of helpful tips to manage it better. One of the best parts is how it helps you figure out your own patterns, like procrastination, and teaches you to set better boundaries. I really liked the idea of focusing on quality over just being busy. It’s a great read if you’re feeling overwhelmed or struggling with time management. It made me think differently about how I spend my time and how to actually feel in control of it!

All together books goes deep enough and moves fast enough to really grasp the important concepts of anxiety and time mangement. Book gievs you a quick summary of different methods and techniques available throughout decades of research written by many famous doctors and coaches. Each chapter focuses on dealing with one issue. My favorite part about was about prefectionism. I loved the five-minute exercise for procrastination. Commit doing things you really don't want to do just for five minutes and then you'll get into it. That was new for me. Thank you!

This book hit home in the best way. Breaking Up with Niceness helped me realize how much of my energy was going to keeping the peace instead of protecting my peace. It’s honest, empowering, and full of practical advice that doesn’t just sound good—it works.
The author has a relatable, no-nonsense voice that made me feel seen and motivated at the same time. I’ve already started setting better boundaries and saying “no” without guilt—and wow, what a difference.
If you’ve ever felt stretched thin trying to please everyone but yourself, this book is your permission slip to stop. Highly recommend for anyone ready to reclaim their voice and their time.

I'm mid-life now, but wish I had read and put into practice these ideas two decades ago. I'm still a recovering (I still have relapses) people-pleaser and just wish I had been exposed to these messages sooner so I could break free sooner! Ah well, all in perfect timing. Hope these types of messages find women much sooner moving forward so we don't have so much of our self worth tied up in what we do for others while running ourselves into the ground!

This book is a breath of fresh air for anyone who’s spent too long trying to please everyone else. Sarah Barry’s approach to self-care goes far beyond bubble baths and motivational quotes—it’s about reclaiming your voice, setting boundaries, and learning that saying “no” is an act of strength, not guilt. Her writing is relatable, inspiring, and filled with real-world wisdom that encourages confidence and authenticity. A powerful guide for women ready to stop playing small and start living boldly.

I got the eBook to see if it would be suitable for my daughter and it's exceeded expectations. I had not heard of "nice girl syndrome', but it hits the nail on the head. I like author Sarah Barry's warm and friendly writing style and this is the third of her books that I've read. I was amazed at how much of the content could have been written for her personally! I especially liked the advice and helpful techniques to try, but also how this cultural conditioning is endemic and hard to escape. It puts the onus and responsibility not just on an individual's psychological state, but squarely on the political and cultural environments in which girls are raised.

If you’ve ever smiled through discomfort or said “yes” when you wanted to scream “no,” read this book. It’s real, honest, and packed with strategies and tools that help you prioritize yourself. The journaling prompts and the sections about assertive communication really help you learn how to speak up and honour your own needs.

This book speaks directly to girls who have been “too nice” for too long. I like the way the author claims that it’s not about being cold or rude but about being real. The book dives into what genuine self-care actually looks like, which is setting boundaries, saying “no” without apology, and making decisions that benefit me. It has reminded me that setting boundaries doesn’t make you mean, it makes you healthy. It's allowed me to unlearn and rebuild a version of myself that is authentic, and free from the weight of always needing to please others.

I didn’t realize how much of my life was wrapped up in trying to be the “nice girl” until I read this book. It felt like the author was gently holding up a mirror—helping me see just how much people-pleasing had been draining my energy and confidence for years. Her tone is warm and relatable, but she doesn’t sugarcoat things. The advice is practical, clear, and surprisingly doable. I especially appreciated the reflective exercises—they helped me get back in touch with who I am when I’m not bending over backward for everyone else. If you’re tired of playing small and ready to speak up, this book is a game-changer.

What I loved most is how grounded and interactive this workbook is. It doesn’t assume that retirement automatically brings happiness—it guides you toward building it intentionally. Each section invites you to reflect on your values, routines, relationships, and mindset with clear prompts and exercises that feel personal and purposeful.
I especially appreciated the habit around staying socially engaged—it reminded me that fulfillment in retirement isn't just about hobbies or finances, but about connection and meaning. The questions made me pause and think deeply about what I really want from this stage of life—not what society says I should want.

This book is really well done! I was excited to see something aimed at retirees as most people think that retirement is something that will be filled with fun and relaxation but that is not the case for many. This gives practical advice and great exercises for retirees to help them feel fulfilled and deal with many issues that face people today. I love the gratitude journalling!

This was a beautifully written and illustrated book about Penelope the Panda's first day of school. Would make a great gift for a child about to enter school for the first time or for kindergarten classrooms for teacher to read on first day. Gradually moves through Penelope's experience framing school as a fun place for lots of learning, with wise teachers and many new friends.

Diving into "Penelope's First Day at School" is like wrapping yourself in a warm, comforting blanket of childhood memories and bright, hopeful beginnings. The tale, brought to life through utterly adorable illustrations, captures the eyes and the heart.
What truly stands out is how Penelope's mix of nervousness and excitement about her first day at school is so vividly portrayed, allowing children to see their own fears and hopes reflected in her story. The beauty of this book lies in its ability to speak directly to kids, making them feel understood and less alone in their big world of 'firsts'.

It is a cute story about friends relying on each other's strengths to solve the clues on the treasure hunt adventure. As the five animals venture on their adventure, they need to each contribute to the success of finding the clues and figuring out what they mean. Eventually, they find their treasure! I loved that the treasure was a picnic of healthy snacks. Adorable pictures accompany the story.
